The UAE is already famous for the world’s tallest building – and now it can claim another record: the world’s heaviest permanent billboard.

GymNation, the Middle East’s biggest gym chain, has turned heads with a new Dubai billboard that weighs an astonishing one tonne – and yes, that’s heavier than most cars. Made by joining together forty weight plates, this is no ordinary advert.
According to Rory McEntee, GymNation’s Chief Marketing Officer, installing it was no small feat. “We had to hire a team of strong, muscle-bound men and women just to put it up,” he said. Health & Safety experts even recommended sealing off the area with perimeter tape – just in case.

The billboard proudly reads: “THE ONLY BILLBOARD THAT NEEDS A SPOTTER.” And it’s more than just a clever line – it’s the perfect lead-in to GymNation’s new Strongman class. Held every Saturday at 10am at the Mirdif club, the class is inspired by the World’s Strongest Man competition and features heavy-hitting exercises like Deadlifts, Tyre Flips, Log Press, and Farmer’s Walk.
“This project really lifted advertising to a new level – literally,” McEntee said. “It was a massive job, spotters were needed, but thankfully no hernias were reported. Our Strongman class is designed to help members bring out their inner strength, whether they’re male or female. And for anyone passing by the billboard – please stay behind the tape if you want to snap a photo!”
The Strongman class runs every Saturday at 10am at GymNation Mirdif. You can book your spot online at GymNation.com
