This holiday season, Disney invites audiences to experience the magic of imagination with A Disney Holiday Short: Best Christmas Ever. Created by adam&eveDDB and directed by Academy Award® winner Taika Waititi, the short tells a heartwarming story of a little girl whose doodle comes to life on Christmas Day, sparking a friendship full of wonder, laughter, and holiday joy.
At the heart of the story is the unique bond between a child and her creation. After Santa mistakes her drawing for a holiday wish, the doodle springs to life, leading to a charming tale of friendship and discovery. “What makes this story uniquely Disney is the fact that it’s set in the world of a kid,” says Waititi. “It’s a kid and her new best friend, navigating the complex world together, using only the power of imagination and friendship.”
Bringing the doodle to life is none other than Disney Legend John Goodman, whose voice has breathed life into beloved characters such as Sulley from Monsters, Inc. and Pacha from The Emperor’s New Groove. Goodman describes the project as timeless, heartfelt, and fun—true to the spirit of Disney storytelling that connects generations and makes the holidays special.
The animation, guided by Walt Disney Animation Studios veteran Eric Goldberg and produced in collaboration with Untold Studios, hungryman, and adam&eveDDB, is a visual treat. The short is also part of Disney’s “Make Someone’s Holiday Magic” campaign, encouraging viewers to share kindness, creativity, and holiday cheer. To celebrate, Disney fans can even submit their own doodles via QR code to watch them come alive on a Times Square billboard—a first-of-its-kind interactive experience.
